This wine was fermented in oak and remained in contact with its yeast lees for a full year to develop its depth and complexity. An intense complex nose of grapefruit, pear and butterscotch together with underlying oak and flinty notes. The palate is rich and delicate with a lovely persistence of grapefruit and dried peach flavours. Seamless and creamy with a complex array of fruit flavours that linger and integrate with oak on the finish. This small parcel has been cellared for 6 years and is drinking well now. Pair with pan roasted salmon with fennel puree.
The climate is cool and maritime, due to the vineyard's position at the extreme South of the continent, close to the Southern Ocean, and surrounded on three sides by the sea - Port Phillip, Westernport, and Bass Strait. Miceli Wines winery catches more rain, cloud, and wind than areas even only a few kilometres away. This allows the vineyard to produce wines with unique flavours.
