Deep rich crimson in colour. Enticing sweet and lively blackcurrents on the nose with earthy oak undertones. The sweetness of ripe plums, cassis and raspberries with gentle layering of white pepper, soft tannins and toasty oak and spice lingering on the finish. Pair with spiced venison with wild mushroom and truffle sauce.
Millstone was founded by renowned winemaker John Baruzzi in 1998. The vineyard is located amidst the rolling hills of the Hunter Valley region and produces Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay varietals, all with an emphasis on low-yielding and smaller grape berries with a balanced sugar to acid ratio. Baruzzi identifies the use of pure yeast strains in the fermentation process and tight grain oak barrels, seasoned prior to use, as the two key processes in his winemaking that create such unique and high quality Millstone wines.
