Rich fruit characters with faint hints of sweet wood on the nose. A palate of rich ripe plums and currants with some undertones of raspberry, aniseed and cocoa. Soft delicate tannins with some late dustings of chalk and lime characters on the finish. Allow to breathe and pair with caramelised pork chops and caramelised vegetables.
Millstone was founded by renowned winemaker John Baruzzi in 1998. The vineyard that produced this gorgeous Petit Verdot is located amidst the riverlands of the McLaren Vale region in South Australia, which is the same region that his Shiraz, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals come from, all with an emphasis on low-yielding and smaller grape berries with a balanced sugar to acid ratio. Baruzzi identifies the use of pure yeast strains in the fermentation process and tight grain oak barrels, seasoned prior to use, as the two key processes in his winemaking that create such unique and high quality Millstone wines.
