Ruby red in colour tinged with a purple hue. Dark fruits on the nose with underlying smokey, savoury notes. A rich, smooth wine with ripe juicy cherry and plum flavours, some leafy freshness and sprightly Sangiovese acidity. The Sangiovese provides structure and the Shiraz and Cabernet add rich juicy earthiness. They all come together to make a balanced, savoury wine with a lingering finish. Pair with fresh pasta with a rich tomato sauce or meat filling. Mediterranean style grills also go well with this blend. Cellar to 2023. 14% Alc/Vol.
Don Totino was born in Italy and immigrated to Australia in 1968 where he moved through a number of industries before finding, and falling in love with, winemaking. When Don purchased wine-growing land in the Paracombe region (Adelaide Hills) in 1998, the existing vineyards had been vacated in the 1970's and had become severely run-down. A lot of hard work, determination and passion for the craft meant that Totino Wines saw their first release in 2002 and the winery has continued to prosper since. The Estate spreads out across 120 acres of land, 80 acres under vine, and enjoys a cool climate and very rich soil, which lends the Totino grapes a beautiful flavour and, in turn, creates gorgeous wines.
