Vibrant cherry and blackberry fruit flavours lead to a bold warm savoury driven Shiraz. The palate is very well integrated, with a perfect balance of leathery spice, fine vanilla oak and grippy dark cocoa all finished by charming dusty cigar box characters. Pair with barbequed pork fillet with plum sauce. 14.4% Alc/Vol.
Peter and Tina Sexton began planting vines in the early 1990s - mostly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but they also had small crops of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. They were, and are, blessed with a north-facing hill and luscious, heavy black soil layered on a calcareous lime base. However, the Sexton's also have an extremely variant climate to throw a spanner in the works and have lost whole vintages to frost and fluctuating temperatures. The pair are true fighters though and, even while struggling against the elements, we continue to see gorgeous wines coming across the Strait with the Touchwood label proudly upon the bottle.
